AUTOMATIC TRANSLATORS: USEFUL, BUT NOT ALWAYS CORRECT

Automatic translators have improved their technology every day and today are already able to translate simple words and phrases with little chance of error. However, these tools are far from replacing the translator of flesh and blood.
There's no miracle. Automatic translators serve only to give a general idea of the text being translated, but are far from providing professional translations. If the task gets more complicated, in the case of very complex periods and words with multiple senses, automatic translators get in the way more than they help.
HOW TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE MACHINE TRANSLATION TOOL?
  • Decompose: try writing sentences in direct order, without many commas, to decrease the chance of inaccuracies in the machine translation.
  • Take one step at a time: in place of a full text, prefer to place paragraphs or loose phrases. Going per share can make it easier to understand the whole.
  • If you master a language well, try translating text from another language (German, for example) into that language. The result may be better than the translation into Portuguese.
  • It is worth using translators to understand simple words and phrases, but the task becomes more complicated in the case of very complex periods and words with various senses.
  • In simpler vocabulary texts, you can leave fear aside: words can be translated accurately.
